Singapore – Zoom Communications has introduced a Unified Context Layer that links conversation history with documents and data, giving people and AI agents a fuller view of ongoing work. The company announced the change on 21 October.
According to Zoom, the layer combines conversations with near-real-time activity across Zoom and connected third-party applications. Configurable settings and controls manage access, while coordination among AI agents turns that business context into actionable insights.
Zoom says the launch targets a familiar problem: a customer interaction may start in a meeting, continue by phone and carry on in chat threads, leaving context scattered across applications. As a result, the company says, teams spend significant time piecing together what happened and what they should do next.
“AI models are only as powerful as their understanding of your business, and that context makes all the difference,” said Eric Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom. “Fragmented product experiences isolate conversations, stall decisions, and drag businesses down. Today, with the Unified Context Layer, we’re laying the groundwork for a system of action designed to turn conversations into completed work.”
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, a partner cited in the announcement, also commented on the approach.
“Our teams have the information they need, but it’s often dispersed across meetings, notes, and different systems,” said Christine Sarros, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Engineering, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
“Zoom’s new solutions could help bring that context together, so teams can enter customer conversations with a clearer understanding of what’s been discussed, what’s been decided, and what needs to happen next. We see an opportunity to spend less time reconstructing history and more time helping our customers move forward,” Sarros continued.
Alongside the layer, Zoom detailed a series of features with staggered release dates, several of which build directly on it. My Notes Workflows, due in October 2026, turns meeting summaries into follow-up work in tools such as Zoom Chat and Salesforce, using ready-made workflows for sales, marketing and IT or custom ones described in natural language.
Enriched notes, expected in November 2026, link shared screens, slides, charts and in-meeting chat to relevant moments in a searchable transcript. Follow the meeting, expected in December 2026, will then deliver personalised transcripts and summaries to users who miss all or part of a session.
In addition, My Notes will extend to in-person conversations through devices from DTEN and Bota, expected in November 2026 and the first quarter of 2027 respectively. A new Zoom Chat experience, also due in December 2026, will bring AI agents into discussions to act within administrator-defined controls, while ZoomMate Agent Teams, a set of specialised agents that work together, is available now.
Zoom is also opening its capabilities to outside AI environments. New Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, available now, let developers and AI agents connect scheduling, transcription, search, administration and contact centre actions beyond the Zoom interface.
Search and Ask APIs, also available now, allow teams to query the Unified Context Layer from Claude, GPT, Codex, Muse, MS Copilot, Gemini, and Slackbot, as well as MCP-compatible agents. Connections to Claude, Codex, Copilot and Muse are expected in October 2026, alongside a Zoom Admin MCP Server for conversational administration tasks.
On the meeting experience, Zoom is adding several AI-driven enhancements. “Translate Me”, part of the Voice Translator feature, translates a speaker’s audio for all participants using a synthesised version of their own voice and is due in October 2026.
Pose Correction, which adjusts video when a user glances away from the camera, and Touch up my Voice, which applies real-time accent smoothing, are both expected in December 2026. A Live Meeting AI Agent that offers proactive assistance is slated for the first quarter of 2027, while 60 frames-per-second screen sharing is available now.
In customer experience, Zoom CX will extend shared customer context across channels, including live and AI agents. Customer Profiles, CX Insights Transcript Intelligence and a branded Zoom Virtual Agent kiosk for physical retail locations are all expected in November 2026.
Zoom is pairing the AI expansion with new administrative controls. Sensitivity Labels, which sync with Microsoft Purview labels or use native Zoom labels to enforce policies, are available now for select Zoom Workplace customers.
Centralised AI Management and Deepfake Risk Detection are due in December 2026, followed by AI Guardrails, which set account-level rules for what AI can generate or use, in the first quarter of 2027. Zoom Compliance Manager support for My Notes and Zoom Canvas, due in January 2027, archives and monitors AI-generated content, though Zoom notes the tool is not a substitute for independent legal or compliance review.
Zoom Events is also gaining AI features. AI Analytics for Events, which lets organisers query event data in plain language, is available now. At the same time, Content Studio, which turns one recording into a multi-language, multi-format library, is due in October 2026 and Agentic Event Setup follows in November 2026.
