Singapore – Zendesk has introduced Employee Service AI Agents and Advanced Action Flows, two tools designed to resolve complex employee requests from start to finish.
The company says the release is aimed at IT, HR, and workplace teams that want to cut administrative effort and return employees to their work sooner.
Employee Service AI Agents interpret what an employee needs and decide how to help, according to Zendesk. Advanced Action Flows then supply the skills to act, through administrator-built workflows that carry out tasks in line with organisational policies and goals.
Together, the tools target multi-step employee service processes, from onboarding to offboarding. These include access approvals, laptop lifecycle management, employment verification letters and badge access.
The launch addresses a familiar bottleneck in internal support. Employee requests rarely follow a single path, and setting up a new hire, for example, requires coordinating hardware, system access and paperwork across several teams and approvals.
Zendesk argues that stalled manual handoffs erode productivity before a new employee’s first day has finished. As a result, it says organisations need to automate the entire process from request to outcome, rather than only answer individual questions.
Early usage figures indicate the scale of that demand. According to Zendesk, 300 customers drove 6 million workflow executions with Advanced Action Flows in the first five weeks of early access, saving an estimated 500,000 hours of manual work.
Explaining the thinking behind the release, Shashi Upadhyay, President of Product, Engineering, and AI of Zendesk, said, “AI should do more than answer employees’ questions – it should help get their work done the way they intended to.”
“Too often, employees lose time chasing approvals and navigating internal systems instead of doing the work they were hired to do. With Advanced Action Flows, our specialized AI agents can draw on workflows that move employee requests through the steps needed to reach a resolution. That’s the promise of an agentic employee experience: less friction for employees and more time for the work that matters,” Upadhyay added.
Zendesk also placed the launch in a regional context. Bikram Mazumdar, Vice President, Zendesk Asia, added, “Across Asia, we’re seeing a clear shift as organisations look to put AI to work to deliver real, tangible operational outcomes. But internal support often encounters delays the moment a request requires coordination across separate back-end systems.”
“Bringing Employee Service AI Agents and Advanced Action Flows together gives regional enterprises a practical way to bridge that gap, resolving complex employee requests end-to-end and keeping teams focused on strategic growth,” Mazumdar continued.
On the technical side, the company says the capabilities cover three stages of employee support. These are simplifying workflow creation, automating multi-step tasks across systems and resolving requests inside daily workspaces.
At the creation stage, Zendesk says IT administrators can build, test and refine complex automations simply by describing what they need in natural language. The company says this removes the manual configuration that traditional drag-and-drop workflows require.
Beyond creation, Advanced Action Flows help teams identify and configure the right integrations and generate the business logic to connect them, according to Zendesk. The company says this makes the entire automation lifecycle, from setup through execution, fully agentic.
For employees, the experience plays out in existing tools. Once the AI agents are connected to Advanced Action Flows, staff can submit requests in applications such as Slack and Microsoft Teams, while the agent coordinates work across back-end systems.
Zendesk says this lets employees get help without switching applications or following up across multiple channels.
The company also shared feedback from early adopters.“It helps me to go further with automation. I’m not a software engineer, so it’s easy to build the flow and fix it,” Head of Support from Alpy.
Another early adopter echoed that view. “I cannot tell you how excited this team is to have this. This is a real, real game changer,” said Andy Phelan, Chatbot Analyst at a Global Engineering and Technology Company. “It’s powerful and really straightforward. I don’t think this is something I’ve been able to do before.”
Employee Service AI Agents and Advanced Action Flows are currently available through Zendesk’s open early access programme. General availability is expected in the coming weeks.
