Platform-driven approach determined as next phase of enterprise AI transformation: report

Singapore – A new global study by FPT Corporation has examined how enterprises are progressing from artificial intelligence (AI) pilot projects to broader, enterprise-wide deployment, with the findings suggesting that while AI investment is increasing, many organisations continue to face operational and organisational barriers to scaling adoption.

According to the study, 51% of surveyed organisations allocate at least 5% of their IT budgets to AI initiatives. However, only 26% described themselves as advanced in operationalising AI. While many organisations are using AI primarily for automation and cost reduction, only 34% reported pursuing an AI-first operating model that redesigns business processes around the technology.

The research also identified integration complexity and fragmented data as key obstacles to scaling AI. Around 41% of respondents cited integration challenges, while 38% pointed to data silos as significant barriers. In addition, only 39% said they had made meaningful progress in aligning AI strategy, governance and operating models.

The report found that measuring AI performance also remains a challenge. Thirty-five percent of organisations said they do not collect quantified metrics for AI initiatives, while 10% reported that they do not measure AI outcomes at all. The study suggests that this makes it more difficult for organisations to determine which AI projects should be expanded across the enterprise.

When selecting AI partners, respondents identified the ability to engineer, deploy and operate AI systems throughout the full lifecycle as the leading consideration, cited by 48% of participants. An equal proportion prioritised governance and security capabilities, while 47% highlighted seamless integration with existing systems.

Regional findings indicated differing priorities. Organisations in North America (59%) and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (54%) placed greater emphasis on full lifecycle AI capabilities, while respondents in Asia Pacific and Japan showed stronger preference for end-to-end strategic and execution support from technology partners.

“We believe this study also builds upon insights from FPT’s decade-long experience working alongside global clients across industries, where we have seen AI ambition grow rapidly, but scaling it remains the real challenge,” said Pham Minh Tuan, Executive Vice President of FPT Corporation and CEO of FPT Software

“As AI ecosystems become more complex, organisations can no longer move forward in silos—they need partners who can bridge strategy, integration, governance, and operations to turn innovation into repeatable, enterprise-wide execution. At FPT, we are committed to co-innovating with our clients at every stage of their journey, helping them scale AI in ways that are stronger, faster, more secure and more efficient—ultimately building more resilient organisations ready for the next frontier of AI adoption,” they added.

FPT said its AI strategy is supported by its FleziPT AI platform, a workforce of more than 30,000 AI-augmented engineers, AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, and collaborations with global AI technology providers. According to the company, these capabilities have enabled customers to reduce development time by up to 60%, cut rework by more than 50%, and improve developer productivity by 30%.

The company also highlighted the recent launch of FPT CASAN, an AI transformation methodology designed to help organisations assess AI readiness and move from pilot projects to enterprise-scale deployment. Built around five stages—Curious, Augmented, Standard, Automatic and Native—the framework aims to provide a structured approach for governance, implementation and AI adoption across business functions.

FPT said the research is intended to encourage greater collaboration between enterprises and technology partners to help organisations scale AI more effectively and support long-term business transformation.
