OceanBase expands overseas operations with Malaysia support centre

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – OceanBase has announced further international growth plans with the establishment of a new global support centre in Kuala Lumpur, alongside its existing international headquarters in Singapore.

The development was revealed during the company’s INFINITY 2026 event in Kuala Lumpur and forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen its presence outside its home market.

The new facility is intended to provide localised assistance for customers in Southeast Asia and other regions, covering areas such as solution design and technical support. OceanBase said the centre will also help deliver continuous customer service and improve operational resilience for clients operating across multiple markets.

The move represents the next stage of the company’s wider expansion programme, following the launch of its GO GLOBAL GO initiative in October 2025. That programme was introduced to broaden the reach of OceanBase’s products, services, sales activities and marketing operations internationally.

“Fintech and banking institutions across Southeast Asia are facing a common set of operational pressures: elevated demands on system stability, growing compliance requirements, increasing pressure on cost efficiency and operational simplicity,” Evan Yang, CEO of OceanBase, stated.

“We are dedicated to providing a trusted foundation—stable, resilient, scalable, and always ready for whatever the next phase of fintech requires.”

OceanBase now serves more than 4,000 customers world, where it supports more than 100 clients, including over 20 digital wallet providers such as TNG Digital in Malaysia and GCash in the Philippines, as well as payment service providers and other emerging finance businesses.

Financial institutions in Southeast Asia are managing increasing demands around system reliability, regulatory compliance, cost control and the adoption of AI in live environments. OceanBases’ services are intended to support these requirements through scalable and resilient infrastructure.

The company is pursuing a multi-cloud deployment model to help organisations meet compliance needs and operate across different regions. Its database services are available on platforms including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and Alibaba Cloud.
