Singapore – Progress Software (Nasdaq: PRGS) has announced a new release of its Telerik and Kendo UI product lines, according to the company, aimed at accelerating artificial intelligence-powered development and supporting what it describes as “agent-ready” applications.
The release was unveiled on 7 September 2026, with Progress Software positioning it as a step towards helping development teams move from AI-assisted coding towards production-ready, agent-driven software.
According to the company, the update embeds AI more deeply into UI generation, application modernisation and broader development workflows.
Progress Software says the release introduces a range of AI-driven capabilities, spanning accessibility features built into the design process, smarter debugging tools, agent-based document processing and more direct AI interaction with application interfaces.
The company adds that the release also supports legacy application modernisation and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)-powered data interaction, alongside new components and tooling intended to help teams build AI-ready user experiences more quickly.
Commenting on the release, Loren Jarrett, EVP and GM, Digital Experience, Progress Software, said, “Engineering leaders need to both enable their teams to use AI to scale their productivity and to increase their production of agentic applications.”
“This release enables engineering teams to meet those needs by extending developer productivity and providing pioneering UI tools to build AI-embedded applications compatible with both human and agent interactions”, Jarrett added.
Among the new capabilities, Progress Software points to the Agentic UI Generator, which it says embeds component-level accessibility directly into UI creation.
The company states that this feature is designed to deliver contextual guidance intended to reduce compliance risk while advancing inclusive design.
Turning to debugging, Progress Software has introduced Fiddler Agent Skills, which it says give coding assistants direct visibility into network traffic.
According to the company, this includes the ability to proactively alert developers to problems along with suggested solutions.
On document handling, the release adds agent tools within the Telerik Document Processing Libraries (DPL), which Progress Software says allow developers to extract structured data, analyse Excel files, convert formats and generate documents from within existing applications, without relying on external AI services.
The company has also introduced support for WebMCP, which it describes as enabling AI agents to interact directly with application interfaces.
Progress Software says this approach is intended to move away from screen-scraping techniques, in favour of what it calls more reliable agent-driven experiences.
For teams managing legacy systems, the release includes automated conversion tools for Telerik UI for WinForms, incorporating intelligent control mapping, code parsing and MCP-based automation, according to the company.
Progress Software further highlights new connectivity to its RAG-as-a-Service product, which it says allows .NET applications to use large language models to analyse and interact with unstructured enterprise data and documents.
Rounding out the release, the company points to new tools such as Smart Paste, PromptBox and SmartBox, alongside broader framework support, faster command-line interface (CLI) onboarding and an integrated AI chat feature within its documentation.
Taken together, Progress Software frames the release as part of its broader push to help engineering teams build applications suited to both human users and AI agents alike.
