Brisbane, Australia – Allianz Partners has launched Metaportal, a digital platform that lets banks and loyalty partners offer configurable travel insurance to their customers, the company announced.
The launch comes as Australian financial institutions respond to regulatory reforms affecting interchange revenue and card payment economics. As a result, many organisations are reassessing how they fund and deliver customer benefits, according to Allianz Partners.
Allianz Partners says the Metaportal is a proprietary platform designed to simplify how partners provide travel insurance. Customers can activate and manage their cover online, and personalise it by selecting additional cover and benefits that suit their travel plans.
Within that digital journey, customers can add protection for cruises, snow sports and adventure travel. They can also opt for higher cancellation limits, extended trip durations and reduced excess levels, the company says.
Partners, meanwhile, gain a configurable framework that allows travel insurance programmes to be tailored at segment level. This gives them control over included benefits, cover structure and generosity across customer groups.
Under the hood, the Metaportal runs on a MACH-aligned architecture. Allianz Partners says the design supports scalable deployment, reusable integration and future expansion into new products and industries.
Explaining the rationale, Allianz Partners pointed to travel as a route into customer engagement.
“Travel remains one of the most powerful ways organisations can engage with their customers,” says Damien Arthur, Executive Head of Travel, Allianz Partners Australia.
Arthur then outlined what he sees as the shortcomings of existing models.
“For many years, travel insurance attached to financial products has largely operated as a one-size-fits-all proposition. Customer expectations have evolved. Today’s travellers want cover that reflects how, where and why they travel, while businesses want solutions that build stronger customer relationships and support long-term loyalty,” Arthur said.
He also described how the platform handles cover levels.
“The Metaportal gives partners the flexibility to provide a preset level of cover while allowing customers to tailor their protection through optional upgrades and additional benefits,” Arthur added.
Arthur went on to position the platform as more than an insurance product.
“What makes this approach different is that it is not simply a product enhancement; it is an engagement platform,” says Arthur.
On integration, he added that partners can embed the experience in their own channels.
“Partners can integrate travel protection into their own digital environments and use it to strengthen customer relationships. The experience remains in-brand, within owned channels, and can be configured to support a range of acquisition, retention and loyalty strategies,” said Arthur.
Finally, he summed up the company’s aim for the platform.
“By combining flexible insurance propositions with modern digital infrastructure, we’re helping partners create lasting value for customers while positioning travel insurance for the future,” Arthur concluded.
