Singapore – Databricks has announced the appointment of Simon Davies as Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific and Japan, as the company continues to expand its presence across the region.
Based in Singapore, Simon will be responsible for overseeing strategy, operations and commercial growth across multiple markets, including Australia and New Zealand, ASEAN, India, Japan, Korea and Greater China. He brings more than three decades of experience in enterprise technology, data and cloud services, having held senior leadership roles at SAP, Splunk, Microsoft, Salesforce and Oracle.
In his most recent position as Regional President for Asia Pacific at SAP, he managed regional strategy and performance, while earlier roles included leading expansion initiatives at Splunk. He also advises senior executives and boards at technology companies on regional market entry and development, and is affiliated with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
“I’m excited to be joining Databricks at such a defining moment for APJ. This is one of the most digitally advanced and AI-ready regions in the world, where organisations are moving quickly from experimentation to scaled impact,” Simon shared.
“The opportunity ahead is significant, and I look forward to working with our teams, customers, and partners to accelerate that momentum and deliver meaningful impact across the region.”
The appointment reflects the company’s focus on strengthening leadership in a region identified as a key growth driver. Its ongoing investments in infrastructure and personnel are intended to support increasing demand for data and AI platforms, as organisations transition from early-stage experimentation to broader deployment.
“Simon brings not only deep regional and industry expertise but also an exceptional track record of building high-performing teams,” Ron Gabrisko, Chief Revenue Officer at Databricks, shared.
“His leadership will be instrumental in unlocking the next phase of growth for one of our fastest-growing regions, helping APJ organisations harness the full potential of data and AI to drive powerful business transformation.”
The adoption of AI across the APJ region is accelerating, with organisations in sectors such as financial services, telecommunications and the public sector increasing their use of data-driven technologies.
The company has broadened its customer base in the region, adding organisations including Singapore Customs, Samsung Life Insurance and SingTel, alongside existing clients such as Atlassian, LG Electronics, National Australia Bank and Toyota.
Databricks continues to advance its product portfolio in the region, including offerings such as Lakebase, a serverless Postgres database designed for AI-driven applications, and Genie, an AI-based tool that enables employees to interact with organisational data through conversational queries and receive immediate responses.
These developments form part of the company’s wider efforts to support enterprises in integrating data, applications and AI into operational processes.
