Malaysia – Tencent Cloud and U Mobile have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly explore the development of 5G and artificial intelligence solutions for enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses in Malaysia, according to Tencent Cloud.

The agreement was announced on 14 September 2026 in Kuala Lumpur and pairs Tencent Cloud’s AI and cloud capabilities with U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network, enterprise reach and Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), the company said.

According to Tencent Cloud, the collaboration will focus on developing, testing and demonstrating solutions to real-world business challenges, with a view to industry adoption. The partnership marks Tencent Cloud’s first official AI-focused tie-up with a Malaysian telecommunications provider, the company added.

As a strategic partner of EIP, Tencent Cloud will work with U Mobile to identify and build enterprise applications through the platform’s Develop–Test–Demonstrate pathway, per the announcement.

Selected AI-driven digital solutions will be developed and validated to address industry-specific challenges by combining Tencent Cloud’s AI and cloud capabilities with U Mobile’s 5G network and EIP, Tencent Cloud said. Successful use cases may then progress towards pilot deployments, commercialisation and go-to-market opportunities, according to the companies.

Poshu Yeung, Senior Vice President of Tencent Cloud and Head of Tencent Cloud International, said, “We are excited to partner with U Mobile on this milestone collaboration, which marks Tencent Cloud’s first official AI-focused partnership with a Malaysian telecommunications provider.”

“By combining Tencent Cloud’s AI and cloud capabilities with U Mobile’s 5G infrastructure and innovation ecosystem, we look forward to enabling enterprises, SMEs, and developers to build impactful 5G and AI applications that address real-world business challenges while supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation ambitions,” Yeung added.

Woon Ooi Yuen, Chief Technology Officer of U Mobile, said, “At U Mobile, we are focused on using our next-gen 5G network to enable innovation that delivers real value to businesses. Our partnership with Tencent Cloud strengthens this by bringing together 5G, AI and cloud technologies to explore new applications across industries.”

“Through our Enterprise Innovation Platform, we look forward to turning promising ideas into practical solutions through our Develop, Test and Demonstrate pathway, bringing them a step closer to real-world adoption,” he concluded.

Beyond product development, the collaboration brings together both organisations’ capabilities to explore practical 5G and AI applications across key industry sectors, Tencent Cloud said.

Through workshops, demonstrations, innovation sessions and pilot showcases, U Mobile and Tencent Cloud will engage businesses, startups, developers, academia and technology partners to co-create, test and validate applications with real-world potential, according to the announcement.

The partnership will also facilitate the exchange of technical expertise across 5G, AI, system integration, security and enterprise deployment, which the companies say will help strengthen capabilities within the wider ecosystem.

Through these efforts, Tencent Cloud and U Mobile aim to accelerate the development and adoption of scalable 5G and AI applications across industries, in support of Malaysia’s continued digital transformation, the companies said.
