Manila, Philippines – In a bid to further enhance its disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities, the Philippines’ Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has recently announced that it has expanded its partnership with PLDT Enterprise and VITRO Inc. This strategic collaboration is aimed at ensuring seamless service delivery to its members and pensioners, especially during natural calamities.

Under the expanded partnership, the organisation is set to leverage VITRO Inc.’s colocation services and secure data centre infrastructure to guarantee operations remain uninterrupted during disasters.

Moreover, PLDT Enterprise will provide network services and IPVPN backhaul to ensure optimal infrastructure connectivity, reducing the data travel time.

Recently, the organisation has partnered with Sycip, Gorres, Velayo (SGV), and Ernst and Young (EY) to establish a new strategy for its IT infrastructure, aiming to improve its capabilities and processes. GSIS also launched the GSIS Digital ID integrated into the GSIS Touch mobile app, which enhances service efficiency and security, reduces fraud, and improves access to services.

According to their recent statement, Wick Veloso, president and general manager at GSIS, said, “The GSIS is embarking on a significant initiative that will enhance its disaster recovery plan and help ensure that reliable service is available to our members and pensioners anytime, anywhere.”

Mitch Locsin, first vice president and head of enterprise and international core business at PLDT and Smart, also said, “We are honoured to be entrusted with the colocation service for the disaster recovery site of GSIS. Our aim is to ensure that in the event of calamities, GSIS can continue to uphold the welfare of government employees and their families, ensure timely delivery of social benefits, and foster financial security.”

Meanwhile, Viboy Genuino, president and CEO at ePLDT and VITRO Inc., stated, “A crucial part of digitalization is uptime. This is true not just for enterprises but more so for government agencies serving Filipinos across the country. This, in fact, is the true value of this partnership between GSIS, VITRO, and PLDT Enterprise—our joint commitment to provide reliable and uninterrupted public service to the Filipino people.”

This partnership with PLDT Enterprise and VITRO Inc. also reinforces the organisation’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and providing technology that supports service efficiency.
