Shenzhen, China – OPPO has integrated agentic capabilities from AI agent platform Manus into its AI Mind Pilot assistant, with the aim of turning multi-step smartphone requests into finished results. The company announced the collaboration on Tuesday.
The feature will debut in a new Agent Mode on the upcoming OPPO Find X10 Series, which runs ColorOS 17.
According to OPPO, AI Mind Pilot can interpret a user’s end goal, break it into steps, identify relevant information and select suitable tools before delivering a completed output. It can also work directly with files and photos stored on the device.
OPPO offers a travel scenario as an example. A user could ask the assistant to organise a trip, and it would pull flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations and attraction tickets from different apps on the phone.
It would then combine that material with online information to build a day-by-day itinerary, without the user gathering or uploading anything manually, the company says.
OPPO says the same capabilities extend to creative and professional work. Users can ask the assistant to find and organise trip photos, locate specific images, or draw on existing files and online information to produce a presentation, proposal or portfolio from a single prompt.
Kai Tang, President of Software Engineering of OPPO, framed the integration as a change in what users expect from AI.
“Agentic AI marks an important shift from answering questions to helping users get things done.” said Tang.
“Together with Manus, we are bringing more proactive and capable experiences to AI Mind Pilot, enabling AI to better understand users’ intentions, take actions and complete tasks. Our goal is to make personal AI a natural part of everyday life and work,” Tang added.
Manus approached the partnership from the hardware side, pointing to the smartphone as a logical home for personal AI agents.
“Smartphones are central to people’s daily lives and support many of the tasks they handle every day, making them a natural platform for personal AI agents,” said Tao Zhang, Co-Founder & CPO of Manus.
“By bringing together Manus’ agentic capabilities and OPPO’s system-level integration, we can make advanced AI agents more accessible and help users complete multi-step tasks through simple, natural interactions,” Zhang continued.
Because the assistant works with personal files and photos, the companies have also outlined how data is handled. OPPO says ColorOS 17 uses on-device models to understand and organise relevant information locally.
For local tasks such as finding, organising or renaming files and photos, the original content stays on the device and is not shared with Manus, according to OPPO.
When a task requires external processing, AI Mind Pilot will ask for the user’s explicit confirmation before any relevant content is uploaded or shared. Users can decide what information is accessed, which actions are taken and whether external processing is allowed.
Through on-device processing and transparent authorisation, OPPO and Manus say they aim to make agentic AI more capable while keeping the focus on user choice and control.
