Hong Kong – Manulife has promoted Andy Bruce to Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Manulife Asia, effective 1 October, the company announced on 8 October.
The insurer said the appointment reflects its focus on strengthening technology leadership across the region. It also said the move supports its aim of delivering simpler, more connected experiences for customers and colleagues in Asia.
Bruce previously served as CIO for Hong Kong and Macau. According to Manulife, he led one of the market’s largest technology delivery portfolios in that role.
The company said that, under his leadership, the team strengthened operational stability and risk management. It added that the team advanced key modernisation and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives and built partnerships across the business and the regional technology organisation.
Manulife also described Bruce as a leader known for his strategic approach, collaborative style and ability to build high-performing teams.
Steve Finch, President & CEO, Manulife Asia, endorsed the promotion in a statement.
“Andy is a proven technology leader with a strong track record of execution, innovation and talent development,” said Finch.
Finch went on to outline what the appointment means for the company’s technology agenda.
“He combines deep knowledge of our business with the ability to turn strategy into meaningful outcomes. His leadership will be invaluable as we strengthen our digital capabilities, scale AI responsibly across our operations and create better experiences for customers and colleagues across Asia,” Finch added.
Manulife said the appointment reinforces its commitment to building a high-performing technology and operations organisation. The company added that this structure supports sustainable growth across Asia and globally.
