China – Educational institutions are increasingly looking at artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based technologies as they adapt to in-person, remote and blended learning environments.
The growing use of generative AI and other intelligent systems is also changing how educators approach lesson preparation, classroom activities and post-lesson administration. At the same time, schools and universities face questions about workload, student engagement, and managing teaching data.
A new white paper published by AV Magazine and Hikvision examines how AI-enabled interactive flat-panel displays (IFPDs) and cloud collaboration platforms could be used at different stages of the teaching process.
The paper looks at applications before, during and after classes, including lesson preparation, classroom interaction, assignment management and the analysis of teaching data.
AI-powered platforms such as Hikvision’s WonderHub Class can generate lesson outlines before classes and suggest multimedia resources based on text prompts. The systems can also create activities such as quizzes and games.
AI-enabled interactive displays can provide voice-based controls for applications and content during lessons. Other functions covered in the paper include on-screen content recognition, real-time collaboration and AI-generated multilingual captions for students participating remotely or in the classroom.
The technology can also be used for some activities following a lesson. WonderHub Class can generate summaries covering discussion points and homework tasks, while also supporting the creation, distribution and grading of assignments.
The platform can synchronise teaching materials with the cloud and organise classroom interaction data into visual analytics. According to the paper, these data can be used by educators when reviewing lessons and considering changes to their teaching approaches.
