Malaysia — The growing adoption of Vision AI in Southeast Asia has taken another step forward, with Malaysia-based Tapway appointing three new channel partners in Thailand.
Under the agreements, the Thai partners—Advantech Co., Ltd., Appomax Co., Ltd., and S I Media Co., Ltd.—will distribute Tapway’s SamurAI Vision AI licences, deliver technical expertise, and provide implementation and support services. Target sectors include retail, manufacturing, logistics, and smart city infrastructure.
The partnerships follow Tapway’s recent entry into Indonesia, underscoring rising regional demand for Vision AI solutions. With operations now extending across Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, Tapway is strengthening its position as an emerging provider of computer vision technology in the region.
Lim Chee How, CEO of Tapway, commented that the company’s expansion into Thailand is to meet the increasing need for intelligent automation.
“These partnerships mark another important step toward making Vision AI accessible, scalable, and locally relevant for businesses across Southeast Asia,” Lim Chee said.
Tapway, headquartered in Malaysia, provides Vision AI solutions across sectors including retail, transport, manufacturing and smart cities. Its subscription-based SamurAI platform, launched in 2024, supports both pre-built and customisable models.
Matrix Choong, general manager at Advantech Corporation, shared how the partnership symbolises the commitment of both companies to drive the growth of smart cities and smart factories developments.
“Tapway’s powerful platform enables us to create Vision AI solutions for inspection, analytics, and advanced business intelligence (BI), enhancing our capabilities to deliver targeted, problem-solving services for our customers,” Matrix stated.
Meanwhile, Vikan Chirawatpongsa, CEO of Appomax, explained that access to Tapway’s AI Vision resources benefits customers and manufacturers since the systems are easy to operate and allow the use of advanced AI capabilities without high costs or complexity.
The use of AI in Thailand has seen a growth in recent years, and Sorathat Rattanawekhinrak, managing director at S I Media Co., Ltd., agrees that the partnership with Tapway ensures businesses and customers maximise the use of AI for operational excellence and profitability.
“Tapway brings real experience to the table in significant ways. Helping various businesses to blend in technology with real-life use cases is creating enormous business opportunities for years to come,” Sorathat added.
The expansion into Thailand forms part of Tapway’s channel-first strategy, which focuses on empowering local partners to enhance business operations with real-time computer vision. The company has set a target of deploying 500 camera licences in Thailand within the next 12 months.
