Singapore – SUSE, an open-source solutions company, has recently expanded its alliance with Cambodia’s Advanced Bank of Asia to support its digital efforts across the country and allow greater market access and economic opportunity.

For this initiative, the bank shared that it has collaborated with SUSE to address the increasing demand for seamless digital experiences. In particular, SUSE is modernising its core infrastructure by transitioning from a legacy monolithic system to a new microservices-based architecture.

A testament to its use of SUSE Rancher Prime and SUSE Security includes the bank significantly enhancing its service availability for all customer-facing and critical applications. It has further reduced application deployment time by half and container management costs by 15%.

This strategic implementation has allowed the bank’s developers and operation teams to build, update, deploy, and manage containerised workloads across cloud and on-premise environments from a single pane of glass, drastically improving agility and visibility.

At the same time, the integration increased its agility and enabled faster application delivery with its automation features in the deployment and monitoring processes. Said transition to Rancher Prime further helped ABA Bank trim container management costs by up to 15%, paving the way for greater investment in new technologies and enhanced customer service.

Additionally, ABA Bank implemented SUSE Security into its new microservices environment to strengthen defences against evolving cyber threats and ensure ongoing compliance with Cambodia’s financial regulations.

Integrated into its microservices environment, this approach also equips DevOps teams with real-time visibility and remediation tools to protect customer data and uphold trust.

Men Phalla, head of the DevOps department at ABA Bank, remarked, “Delivering fast, secure, and uninterrupted banking services is key to maintaining our leadership position in Cambodia’s financial sector. With SUSE Rancher Prime, we’ve gained the agility and visibility to innovate confidently—while SUSE Security gives us real-time insights to mitigate risks before they escalate.”

Gayathri Peria, general manager at SUSE ASEAN, also shared, “The financial services industry in Asia-Pacific is one of the most dynamic and digitally driven in the world. We are proud to support innovative institutions like ABA Bank in their digital transformation journey in the dynamic Southeast Asian market of Cambodia. SUSE’s open, secure and enterprise-ready technologies empower financial leaders to deliver exceptional customer experiences with confidence and support greater financial inclusion.”
