United States – Skyflow has launched Skyflow for Glean, a data security and governance layer designed to protect sensitive information used by enterprise AI search.

The Palo Alto-based company said the offering extends its data protection capabilities to the enterprise context used by AI systems, including documents and records spread across multiple business applications and systems.

Skyflow for Glean is designed to protect sensitive data at ingestion and enforce security policies at runtime, allowing organisations to deploy Glean across broader knowledge bases while maintaining controls over sensitive information.

Kearney, a global management consulting firm, is among the organisations using the technology. The company deployed Glean across thousands of consultants while managing terabytes of client information subject to confidentiality requirements.

“We don’t want to be in the data sanitization business. Skyflow gave us per-field encryption, runtime policies, and customer-specific isolation as a platform – not a project,” said Mark Johnson, Partner and Chief Information and Digital Officer at Kearney.

Skyflow said the need for data-level governance is increasing as AI agents draw information from multiple sources, including customer relationship management systems, software-as-a-service applications, data lakes and wikis.

While enterprise search platforms such as Glean can apply permissions-based access controls, Skyflow said its offering adds controls at the individual data-field level. This is intended to address sensitive information that may be incorporated into AI-generated answers, summaries and agent reasoning.

Skyflow for Glean operates at two stages. During ingestion, it detects and tokenises sensitive information before content is added to search indexes and embeddings. During retrieval and agent execution, it applies policy-based masking, rehydration and context filtering based on user and agent authorisation.

“Every search and every agent action touches your most sensitive records. Protecting that moment matters as much as protecting the storage behind it. Security and legal teams can move from blocking access to unblocking secure access — and that’s what makes AI search safe to turn on,” said Anshu Sharma, co-founder and CEO of Skyflow.

According to Skyflow, applying governance at the data layer can help organisations expand AI search deployments while controlling access to sensitive information. The company also said the platform supports regional data requirements and records access activity to support compliance with regulations and standards including GDPR, DPDP and HIPAA.
