Singapore – Singtel said it is expanding enterprise artificial intelligence adoption across its operations, integrating AI tools into workflows spanning software development, customer operations and decision-making processes.
The company announced that more than 3,000 employees in Singapore have been deployed with ChatGPT Enterprise in collaboration with OpenAI. According to Singtel, over 80% of these employees are monthly active users, which it said reflects sustained engagement with the platform.
William Woo, Singtel’s Group Chief Information Officer and Group Chief Digital Officer, said, “We see AI as a significant opportunity to empower our people and transform how work gets done across Singtel. As we scale its use, it is critical that our employees are equipped to use it confidently and responsibly, so we can translate these tools into meaningful improvements in productivity, innovation and customer experience.”
Singtel said its internal data over the past three months showed usage levels exceeding OpenAI benchmarks, attributing the results to ongoing employee training and support programmes. Employees using the platform reportedly experienced time savings on work-related tasks and improvements in creativity and brainstorming.
The company added that workforce development remains central to its AI strategy. Singtel said it invests S$20m annually in employee training and upskilling initiatives aimed at building internal capabilities for AI adoption.
The company also noted that its broader AI strategy includes scaling infrastructure and digital services through its regional data centre business Nxera and IT services arm NCS to capture opportunities in the AI ecosystem.
Oliver Jay, Managing Director of International at OpenAI, said, “As intelligence becomes more like a utility, organisations need to make AI useful in the day-to-day work of their people. Singtel is taking meaningful steps to do that using OpenAI’s technology, scaling adoption in a way that is practical and people-centred.”
He added, “What stands out is the investment not only in frontier AI capabilities, but in helping employees use them confidently and effectively across real workflows.”
Singtel said its AI initiatives demonstrate that the value of AI depends not only on access to technology, but also on how effectively employees incorporate these tools into everyday work processes to achieve business outcomes.
