Malaysia — Malaysia Airlines has partnered with travel technology company Amadeus to implement the Amadeus Travel Ready solution, becoming the first airline in Southeast Asia to adopt the system.
The integration allows passengers to upload and verify travel documents, such as passports, visas, and health certificates, during online or mobile check-in.
The system is designed to reduce congestion at airport counters by enabling digital verification before departure, streamlining passenger flow through various checkpoints. It also supports the industry’s broader move toward biometric and contactless travel, aligning with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) One ID initiative.
Clarence Lee Chin Ken, group chief digital officer from Malaysia Aviation Group stated how the airline aims to streamline the manual processing of checking in by allowing passengers to be one step ready by digitising the identity verification process with Amadeus Travel Ready.
“We are laying the foundation for a fully biometric, seamless journey in the future,” Clarence said.
Javier Laforgue, executive vice president, travel unit & managing director, Asia Pacific at Amadeus explained how the airline will push for a more seamless traveller experience using advanced and secure biometric enrollment capabilities.
“This partnership is just one example of how Amadeus can support the travel industry with innovative, traveller-centric initiatives that enhance passenger convenience and security,” Javier said.
