Jakarta, Indonesia – inDrive, an international ride-hailing service, has recently announced that it has partnered with Singapore-based global financial group Fingular and Indonesian licensed Sharia peer-to-peer lending platform Ammana. This partnership has laid the foundation of inDrive.Money in Indonesia, a financial service aimed at supporting drivers.
Using the inDrive app, drivers can receive cash funding of up to 10,000,000 Rp from Ammana, with repayments smoothly deducted from their ride income.
The expansion builds on its previous rollout in Mexico and Colombia, making Indonesia among inDrive’s first APAC markets to adopt this offering and provide crucial support for drivers facing urgent expenses.
It further addresses the gap in financial inclusion, as gig workers, including Indonesian drivers, face difficulties in accessing financial services due to their informal employment status.
Advocating for this cause, inDrive and Fingular have launched a scalable technology that offers fair and transparent financial services. This solution, integrated into the inDrive app, provides drivers with easy access to cash for urgent expenses.
Repayments are also deducted per ride at a 10-15% commission, with a three to five-month repayment period and personalised monthly payments. inDrive uses ride frequency, monthly income, and other key data points to assess drivers’ creditworthiness, allowing its partners to offer fairer funding terms.
Speaking about the initiative, Mark Loughran, Group President at inDrive, said, “We’ve already disrupted the ride-hailing industry by introducing a people-centric pricing model, allowing passengers and drivers to negotiate fares instead of relying on opaque algorithms. We are now addressing a similar injustice in financial services, where gig workers are often excluded due to legacy credit scoring models that do not accommodate their needs.”
Maxim Chernuschenko, CEO at Fingular, also remarked, “We are excited to support inDrive in our common mission to challenge financial injustice by offering the most accessible, transparent and people-centric financial technologies and services.”
Vadim Gurinov, a Cypriot investor and strategic backer of Fingular, further demonstrated his support, stating, “This strategic partnership is not just about achieving immediate financial goals but is a testament to a long-term vision for the financial future, where justice, innovation and customer satisfaction drive every decision.”
According to inDrive, inDrive.Money’s pilot phase started in late 2024, allowing partners to refine Fingular’s financing technology based on driver feedback. After a gradual rollout in major cities, the service is now available in cities including Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Bali Island, and several others.
Drivers who accessed funding showed higher engagement and retention and shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, calling the service a lifeline in times of unexpected expenses, allowing them to continue driving without disruptions.
The company further sees significant growth potential in ride-hailing and urban service verticals, with further plans to expand its offerings in the country.
