Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – U Mobile has named Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) as one of its strategic partners to advance the adoption of 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Malaysia through the newly established Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP).
The platform will act as a collaborative hub for testing and developing enterprise use cases, supported by end-to-end ecosystem partners and technology expertise.
Under the agreement, Huawei Malaysia will provide technical capabilities and services for the EIP, including network architecture design, solutions integration, pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives.
Drawing on Huawei’s experience across its business in consumer and home 5G segments, the collaboration will also explore smart monetisation models using AI and Machine Learning to enhance customer experience.
“U Mobile is pleased to collaborate with Huawei Malaysia as one of our strategic technology partners to establish our EIP,” Woon Ooi Yuen, chief technology officer of U Mobile, stated.
“This partnership will enable the development of localised 5G solutions, pilot projects and proof of concepts, while supporting smart monetisation and ecosystem growth. We look forward to forging more collaborations with a variety of partners to ensure the success of EIP.”
The EIP aims to build a strong innovation ecosystem by facilitating knowledge-sharing, leveraging international references and validated business cases, and supporting start-ups and early-stage ventures through funding, incubation resources and technical enablement.
The initiative will also include awareness and outreach programmes such as technology demonstrations, seminars, exhibitions, roadshows and digital campaigns to promote cross-industry collaboration.
“At Huawei, we lead in 5G-A and AI integration, and we look forward to leveraging our strengths and our ecosystem of partners to support digital innovation in Malaysia,” Zac Chow, deputy CEO of carrier business at Huawei Malaysia, commented.
The partnership was formalised at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASEAN Edition), where the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by senior representatives from both organisations, witnessed by key government and industry leaders.
