Hong Kong – Agoda and Adyen are exploring further payment services after more than a decade of collaboration, which began in 2015 and now supports transactions across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States.

The partnership initially supported Agoda’s mobile-first expansion across Asia. As the digital travel platform expanded into additional markets and products, Adyen became its payments acquirer across the three regions, providing travellers with access to a range of preferred payment methods.

The companies have worked to expand currency options, improve payment performance and reduce costs as Agoda’s operations have grown. Their efforts include supporting local payment methods, streamlining authentication for legitimate bookings and routing transactions to improve authorisation rates and reliability.

These measures are intended to reduce checkout friction and provide travellers with a more consistent payment experience across markets.

“Agoda and Adyen have partnered closely for more than a decade, growing together as Agoda’s business has expanded around the world,” said Oliver Webster, Chief Financial Officer at Agoda.

“In particular, there are strong synergies around performance enhancement, whether that’s making payments easier, increasing reliability, or improving overall experience. Ultimately, that aligns seamlessly with Agoda’s goal to take the hassle out of travel, and help people see the world for less,” Webster continued.

“Over ten years, our relationship with Agoda has grown alongside their business,” said Kai Tang, Head of Hong Kong at Adyen.

“What makes this partnership special is our shared focus on continuous optimisation. At Agoda’s scale, improvements in how payments are routed, authorised, and settled can have a meaningful impact on performance and the traveller experience. We’re excited to continue building on that together,” Tang continued.

The companies are also exploring potential opportunities in issuing and payouts in supported markets. The work comes as Agoda continues to invest in customer experience and emerging technology to simplify travel and improve payment accessibility.
