Singapore – DBS and Stripe have entered a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating agentic commerce and cross-border payments across Asia.

The tie-up brings together DBS’ banking capabilities and pan-Asian connectivity with Stripe’s global programmable financial services.

Together, the two institutions intend to help businesses collect, move and manage funds more seamlessly across markets.

Beyond payments infrastructure, the partnership will also explore jointly developing agentic AI capabilities, giving DBS customers new ways to transact more efficiently and securely. The announcement lands at a pivotal moment for commerce in the region.

AI agents are increasingly stepping into the consumer journey, helping shoppers discover products and complete purchases on their behalf. Indeed, AI agents are projected to orchestrate up to USD 5 trillion of global consumer commerce by 2030.

As this shift towards agentic commerce accelerates, businesses and consumers alike will need trusted platforms capable of processing AI-powered transactions both quickly and securely.

Under the partnership, Stripe will tap DBS’ digital banking capabilities to offer merchants on its platform enhanced cross-border payments functionality.

This includes drawing on DBS’ money movement and cash management solutions to help Stripe merchants collect payments more efficiently. The same tools will also help Stripe optimise liquidity and cash positions across its corporate entities.

Collectively, these initiatives are designed to support Stripe’s ongoing transformation into a full-stack provider of financial infrastructure, while reinforcing its expansion across Asia.

On the other side of the partnership, DBS will explore leveraging Stripe’s global platform and embedded finance solutions to widen its own cross-border network.

In doing so, the bank aims to help its institutional clients connect with more customers worldwide. The partnership also responds to a broader structural shift in the region’s payments landscape.

Businesses across Asia are increasingly seeking trusted partners that can offer access to multiple payment and currency corridors at once.

This need is only set to intensify: Asia’s outbound cross-border payments are projected to surge to USD 24 trillion by 2033. That figure would account for 36% of global outbound flows and represent almost double the region’s 2025 volumes of USD 13.5 trillion.

Commenting on the partnership, Tan Su Shan, Chief Executive Officer, DBS, said, “Asia’s digital economy is entering a new phase of innovation and growth. AI agents are gaining traction and businesses of all sizes are broadening their reach into new markets around the world.

“This partnership enables us to continue delivering differentiated solutions for customers and reflects our shared commitment towards helping businesses in Asia build, scale and compete globally”, Shan further explained.

Fran Ryan, Chief Business Officer, Stripe, added, “Ten years ago, Stripe launched in Singapore to support Asia’s earliest internet builders. Today, more than half of our users in the region are selling cross border. By combining Stripe’s global financial infrastructure and product innovation with DBS’ trusted banking expertise and extensive regional network, we look forward to helping even more businesses in Asia transform into global champions.”

With agentic commerce still in its early stages, the partnership positions both DBS and Stripe to capture a growing share of Asia’s cross-border payments activity in the years ahead.
