Tokyo, Japan – Mizuho Bank has entered into a strategic alliance with SAP, becoming the first Japanese bank to adopt SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity, a solution designed to streamline corporate banking connectivity through a single standardised channel.
The collaboration enables corporate clients using SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity to access Mizuho directly through the platform, allowing integration with existing treasury management systems. The solution is intended to simplify connectivity between corporations and multiple banking partners while supporting payment processing and treasury operations.
According to Mizuho, the move strengthens its participation in a growing ecosystem of global corporates and supports its efforts to expand embedded banking capabilities.
Koichi Zaiki, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CEO for Asia Pacific at Mizuho Bank, said, “As the first Japanese bank with SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity, we are enhancing our ability to serve corporate clients through a more streamlined and standardized connectivity. This initiative enables corporates to integrate with Mizuho seamlessly within their existing treasury ecosystems – supporting greater flexibility, faster onboarding and increased agility in managing day-to-day treasury operations.”
Ashutosh Kumar, Head of Transaction Banking for Asia Pacific at Mizuho Bank, said, “Our agreement with SAP underscores Mizuho’s commitment to innovation and represents an important step in our progression toward embedded finance. It strengthens how we deliver value to clients and reinforces our position as a forward-looking transaction banking partner of choice across Asia Pacific.”
SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity allows organisations to connect with multiple banks through a single interface, supporting payment processing, liquidity management, and data exchange across banking relationships.
Verena Siow, Regional Business Suite Leader for SAP Asia Pacific, said, “Mizuho’s adoption of SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity marks a significant step forward in how it supports its customers’ day-to-day operations. By enabling straight-through payment processing, and providing real-time visibility and automated data flows, this solution allows Mizuho to help organisations manage liquidity more effectively and stay agile in today’s highly interconnected and evolving financial landscape. We are proud to partner with Mizuho Bank on this journey, strengthening its capabilities and expanding its impact across Asia Pacific.”
The announcement comes as companies increasingly seek bank-agnostic and standardised connectivity solutions to manage treasury and transaction banking operations across multiple markets. Mizuho said the adoption of SAP Multi-Bank Connectivity is expected to enhance its global transaction banking capabilities and improve support for clients operating across diverse banking networks.
The partnership also expands Mizuho’s presence within SAP’s corporate ecosystem, which the companies said accounts for a significant share of global commerce.
