Singapore – Cloudflare has announced two new offerings, Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay, aimed at enabling AI agents to verify their identity and make online purchases on behalf of users within predefined spending limits.
The company said the new tools are designed to address trust and payment challenges associated with AI agents, which are increasingly being used to browse websites, query APIs, and complete transactions autonomously. According to Cloudflare, existing bot detection technologies were developed primarily for search crawlers and are not designed to distinguish between legitimate AI agents acting on behalf of individuals or organisations and malicious automated actors.
“The Internet is shifting from human-driven browsing to agent-driven commerce, and the infrastructure needs to keep up,” said Matthew Prince, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “When an agent shows up at your door, you need to know who sent it. Cloudflare can give agents a face—a link to the human or organisation that owns them—so that trust, accountability, and real commerce can follow. It’s the identity and payment infrastructure the agentic web needs to function.”
The company said the new services combine identity verification and payment capabilities for AI agents. Each Cloudflare account will receive a unique web address that serves as a stable digital identity. Users will also be able to assign identities to individual AI agents, allowing businesses receiving requests to identify the person or organisation that authorised the agent.
Cloudflare Wallets will function as a central account capable of receiving, holding and managing stablecoins. Users will be able to create separate “Virtual Wallets” for individual AI agents, enabling them to pay for online resources while operating within user-defined restrictions.
According to Cloudflare, these virtual wallets will include configurable guardrails such as spending caps, approved merchant lists and maximum transaction limits. The company said the wallets will integrate with its Monetization Gateway to support payments between AI agents and online services.
Cloudflare said reservations for Wallet handles are now open. Full wallet functionality—including the ability to add and withdraw funds and issue Virtual Wallets—is expected to become available in the coming months.
