Singapore – Standard Chartered has appointed Shebani Baweja as Group Chief Data Officer (CDO), effective immediately.
Based in Singapore, Baweja will report to Alvaro Garrido, Chief Operating Officer for Technology & Operations (T&O) and Chief Information Officer for Information Security & Data.
In her new role, Baweja will lead the bank’s Group Data Office and oversee the development and execution of its data strategy. Her responsibilities include strengthening data governance and management practices, building data foundations across the organisation, and accelerating the use of data and analytics to support growth, innovation, and decision-making.
Baweja brings more than 20 years of experience in data-led digital transformation initiatives. Since joining Standard Chartered in 2008, she has held several senior positions across Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) and T&O transformation. Most recently, she served as chief information security officer (CISO) for WRB and International Markets, where she led cyber risk strategy and initiatives focused on controls, governance, and digitisation.
