Beijing, China – Mastercard and JD.com have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening payments infrastructure and advancing digital commerce capabilities.
The collaboration will focus on building a more connected, secure and intelligent commerce ecosystem by combining Mastercard’s payment technology with JD.com’s digital retail, logistics and supply chain capabilities.

Sandy Xu, CEO of JD.com, said the partnership would help support the company’s international expansion and enhance services for consumers and businesses globally.

As part of the collaboration, the companies will work on integrating and enhancing global payment connectivity by developing infrastructure designed to support JD.com’s international business expansion and broader global commerce use cases.
The partnership will also explore the development of a cross-border supply chain finance ecosystem aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) gain improved access to financing and participate more efficiently in international trade.
In addition, the companies plan to expand payment options for international travelers visiting China. This includes supporting broader acceptance of international cards and enhancing checkout, shopping and tax-refund experiences for overseas visitors across JD.com’s e-commerce platforms and retail channels.
Both companies also intend to explore agentic AI-powered purchasing solutions through Mastercard’s Agent Pay technology and expand co-branded card initiatives.
The partnership will further focus on strengthening transaction security through deeper cooperation in risk management, identity authentication and anti-fraud technologies. Enhanced real-time monitoring and fraud prevention capabilities are expected to help improve transaction security and reinforce the resilience of digital commerce systems.
