TerraPay, TPBank partner to expand real-time cross-border payments from Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam – TerraPay has partnered with Vietnam-based TPBank to enable real-time outbound cross-border payments for the bank’s customers, expanding access to international payment destinations through TerraPay’s global payment network.

Under the partnership, TPBank will use its existing SWIFT connectivity while gaining access to TerraPay’s network, allowing customers to send payments to bank accounts and digital wallets in more than 156 countries and territories. The arrangement is intended to help the bank expand its international payment services without establishing multiple bilateral partnerships or making significant technology investments.

The announcement comes as Vietnam continues to see rapid growth in digital payments. According to figures cited by the companies, the country recorded 17.7 billion non-cash transactions in 2024, representing a 56% year-on-year increase. During the first nine months of 2025, non-cash transactions reached nearly 18 billion, exceeding the total recorded for the whole of 2024.

The companies said the partnership is designed to provide TPBank customers with faster international payments, access to a wider range of payout options through bank accounts and digital wallets, and a digital-first payment experience for overseas business transactions.

Nguyen Viet Anh, Deputy CEO in charge of Strategy and Banking Governance at TPBank, said: “TPBank has consistently been at the forefront of digital banking innovation in Vietnam. Partnering with TerraPay empowers us to rapidly expand our international payment offerings without the burden of multiple bilateral relationships or heavy technology investment. It’s a strategic move that reinforces our commitment to a digital-first banking experience for our customers.”

Ani Sane, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at TerraPay, said: “Digitally-led banks like TPBank are redefining what customers expect from cross-border payments — speed, simplicity, and reliability. This partnership gives TPBank a single connection to global reach, so it can scale its international payment offerings quickly without the operational weight of building it alone.”

The collaboration has been notified to the State Bank of Vietnam in accordance with applicable regulations, the companies said. They added that inbound and outbound remittance transactions will remain subject to Vietnam’s foreign exchange regulations and anti-money laundering requirements.

The partnership is expected to support TPBank’s expansion of its digital banking services while extending TerraPay’s network of financial institution partners providing cross-border payment infrastructure.
