Ant International raises US$1.2b in Series A funding to expand cross-border payments business

Singapore – Ant International has completed a Series A equity financing round worth approximately US$1.2 billion, with proceeds earmarked for expanding its cross-border payments business and developing AI-powered commerce and financial services for businesses worldwide.

The funding round included participation from existing investors, including Ant Group and Alibaba Group, alongside several international investment institutions, according to the company.

The company said the capital will be used to accelerate its international expansion and strengthen offerings in merchant payments, account management and other financial services designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger businesses.

Ant International has operated independently since 2024. The company currently has operations across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.

According to the company, it has established partnerships with banks, card networks, mobile payment providers and technology firms, connecting more than 150 million merchants globally with over 2 billion user accounts.

Its business is organised around four main brands—Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst and Bettr—which provide payment, treasury, credit and other financial technology services. The company said these businesses are focused on improving global payment interoperability and supporting cross-border commerce through AI-powered merchant payment and financial technology solutions.
