CGI appoints Gopal Chhetri to lead global capability centres business

Singapore – CGI, a global provider of IT and business consulting services, has appointed Gopal Chhetri, currently the SVP of Asia Pacific global delivery centres of excellence, to lead its Global Capability Centres (GCC) business.

In this role, Gopal will oversee the company’s AI-first GCC strategy for capability centres with a focus on AI-led delivery models, supporting clients as they expand transformation programmes and enhance delivery at scale. The appointment also reinforces the importance of India within CGI’s global delivery network.

“I’m honoured to take on this role at a time when GCCs are redefining their purpose and value for the enterprise. Today, clients are evolving from execution to orchestration and want GCCs that can modernise platforms, use AI responsibly, and create lasting enterprise value,” Gopal commented.

“We look forward to helping clients evolve their GCCs into strategic hubs that support their global operations.”

GCCs are increasingly shifting from cost-driven delivery hubs to core enablers of enterprise-wide innovation, resilience and modernisation. CGI is strengthening its approach to help organisations integrate these centres into their broader business strategies, ensuring closer alignment with corporate priorities and clearer accountability for business results.

Gopal brings more than two decades of industry experience and is intended to support clients in moving beyond operational efficiency towards measurable outcomes, including improved customer experience and stronger business performance.

In his new position, Gopal will focus on growing CGI’s GCC portfolio and scaling capabilities across digital engineering, cloud services, and AI. His responsibilities also include strengthening talent development initiatives, leadership pipelines, collaborative delivery models and market-ready operating frameworks.

“Gopal’s appointment strengthens our ability to help our clients move from process efficiency to measurable business outcomes, including improved customer experience and business performance,” Rakesh Aerath, president of CGI Asia Pacific Global Delivery Centres of Excellence, stated.

The leadership change underscores CGI’s continued emphasis on proximity to clients and its long-term commitment to supporting organisations as they establish, expand and evolve their GCCs. The company aims to leverage its global delivery model and accumulated expertise to help clients derive sustained value from these operations.
