Australia – Visa, a digital payments firm, has recently welcomed Alan Machet as the new group country manager in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. This strategic appointment follows Julian Potter’s upcoming retirement, which is scheduled to take effect at the end of the year.
With over two decades in the financial service industry, Alan has held senior leadership positions at Westpac, Macquarie Bank, and Citibank. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Citibank’s consumer division before its acquisition by the National Australia Bank (NAB).
He was also appointed as the CEO of NAB’s Citi Branded Division, overseeing the integration and growth of the Citi Consumer Business within NAB.
Taking on this position, he will be responsible for Visa’s operations across Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific, which encompass fostering client and industry partnerships, supporting business growth, enhancing customer experiences, promoting digital acceptance, and accelerating innovation efforts within the market.

Alan, who is based in Sydney, will become a member of Visa’s Asia-Pacific leadership team.
