Singapore – Thredd has launched Visa Cloud Connect (VCC) in Asia Pacific, marking a key milestone in the company’s transition to cloud-native infrastructure and supporting faster issuer programme deployment across the region.
The rollout follows Thredd’s global agreement with Visa to enable Visa Cloud Connect and forms part of the company’s broader cloud transformation strategy. The implementation is centralised through Singapore, which serves as Thredd’s regional cloud hub for APAC, and is designed to streamline programme onboarding, accelerate release cycles, and strengthen operational reliability for clients.
Visa Cloud Connect allows organisations to access VisaNet, Visa’s global payments network, through cloud-based infrastructure. For Thredd, the deployment represents a shift away from traditional data centre-based systems towards a cloud-native operating model with direct connectivity to VisaNet.
According to the company, the move reduces dependence on third-party intermediaries while providing greater visibility into platform performance, monitoring, and resilience. It also comes as financial services providers face growing demands to support emerging technologies and payment models, including artificial intelligence, agentic commerce, and multi-rail payments.
The implementation supports Thredd’s hosted operating model in Asia Pacific, allowing fintechs, digital banks, and embedded finance providers to utilise the company’s infrastructure without maintaining their own direct connectivity environment. The approach is intended to help organisations bring new programmes to market more quickly while reducing operational complexity.
Thredd said the deployment also provides greater flexibility for future market-specific infrastructure rollouts. Through Visa Cloud Connect, the company can establish dedicated local instances in markets where customer requirements, regulatory obligations, or data residency considerations necessitate a local deployment model.
This could be particularly relevant for larger financial institutions, including tier-one and tier-two banks, that require infrastructure to be hosted within specific jurisdictions.
By adopting direct cloud connectivity through Visa Cloud Connect, Thredd said it is strengthening its network infrastructure in Asia Pacific to support future growth, operational resilience, and evolving customer requirements.
“Visa Cloud Connect represents an important step in the evolution of our infrastructure strategy across the Asia Pacific. The industry is moving beyond traditional processing environments toward cloud-native, real-time financial orchestration, where speed, resilience, scalability and adaptability increasingly determine competitive advantage,” said Damien Gough, Head of APAC at Thredd.
He added, “By implementing direct cloud connectivity into VisaNet through our Singapore regional hub, we are strengthening the operational foundation that supports faster programme deployment, improved platform visibility and greater flexibility as clients expand across markets, rails and emerging payment models.”
