Singapore – Teradata, an American software company, has recently announced that it has collaborated with NVIDIA AI with the goal of empowering large, global enterprises that use public and/or private clouds.
In this partnership, Teradata will incorporate NVIDIA NeMo and NVIDIA NIM microservices into Teradata’s Vantage platform, expediting AI workloads and supporting the development of foundation and customised large language models (LLMs), agentic workflows, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications.
This initiative allows customers to deploy their own custom models through NVIDIA AI Enterprise, an end-to-end software platform that delivers enterprise-grade security, support, and stability, aimed at boosting ROI from generative AI solutions.
Moreover, the company will further integrate NVIDIA’s accelerated computing infrastructure into its platform. As part of this launch, Teradata unveiled the company’s new support for both small language models (SLMs) and open LLMs in VantageCloud Lake.
In particular, the new bring-your-own LLM capability can utilise NVIDIA AI’s computing clusters for activities like inferencing and fine-tuning large language models.
Talking about the initiative, Hillary Ashton, chief product officer at Teradata, said, “Teradata customers are not casual users of their data and analytics, so we’re thrilled to be engaged with NVIDIA to leverage our strong and trusted foundation for innovative AI use cases.”
“By integrating NVIDIA’s accelerated computing architecture into our Vantage platform, Teradata customers will be able to accelerate their use of AI at scale, in the environment of their choice, delivering unprecedented business value,” added Ashton.
Additionally, Teradata VantageCloud is set to offer NVIDIA NeMo Retriever, a set of NVIDIA NIM microservices that enables organisations to effortlessly connect custom models to diverse business data for delivering accurate results.
The new feature will enhance search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications by leveraging existing customer data. Initially, Teradata VantageCloud customers will have access to NVIDIA NIM microservices, with plans to extend the availability to hybrid customers globally.
Pat Lee, vice president of strategic enterprise partnerships at NVIDIA, also commented, “Data is the foundation of generative AI applications, enabling the development of today’s highly customised applications. By integrating NVIDIA AI Enterprise, Teradata is providing developers a high-performance, full-stack platform that offers the security, stability, and support enterprises require.”
