Singapore – ST Telemedia Global Data Centres has partnered with Alibaba Cloud and Tech Talent Assembly, an affiliated association under the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), to support the adoption of generative and agentic artificial intelligence among businesses, developers, and students in Singapore.
The initiative, announced during the Qwen Conference 2026 and witnessed by Desmond Tan Kok Ming, Senior Minister of State in Singapore’s Prime Minister’s Office and Deputy Secretary-General of NTUC, aims to support up to 1,000 enterprises, developers, and students through access to AI tools, training, and implementation support.
According to the organisations, the programme is intended to help businesses move beyond experimentation with AI and adopt practical applications that improve productivity, decision-making, and competitiveness.
“This reflects a growing effort by partners to work with the Labour Movement to better support workers, including youths and PMEs, with the skills, guidance and confidence to take on opportunities in the AI economy. Through NTUC’s AI-Ready SG initiative, we will continue working closely with our partners to pool resources and strengthen impact on the ground, so that workers receive tailored guidance and support every step of the way,” said Desmond Tan Kok Ming, Senior Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore and the Deputy Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress.
The programme will provide participants with access to AI models and tools, including Qwen and Wan for generative and multimodal AI applications, as well as agentic AI tools such as Qoder and QoderWork for workflow automation and software-related applications.
Participants will also receive hands-on workshops, guided implementation support, and access to an online AI infrastructure readiness assessment developed by ST Telemedia Global Data Centres. The assessment is designed to help organisations evaluate their preparedness for AI adoption and identify priority areas for deployment.
The companies said the initiative is particularly focused on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which often face resource and capability challenges when implementing AI technologies. Workforce readiness and training for mid-career workers and employees in SMEs are also central components of the programme.
“AI adoption is increasingly a competitiveness issue for businesses in Singapore, yet many organisations still need support to translate interest into implementation. At STT GDC, our role extends beyond providing trusted digital infrastructure — we are focused on enabling broader access, stronger collaboration and practical adoption across the economy,” said Lim Mingcheng, Country Head – Singapore, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres. “Through this partnership, we are bringing together technology, implementation support and workforce enablement to help more organisations and individuals apply AI with confidence and in ways that deliver real impact.”
“At Alibaba Cloud, we believe that AI is a transformative force that should be accessible to everyone. By partnering with NTUC and STT GDC, we are committed to lowering the barrier to entry for Singapore’s SMEs and students. Our goal is to equip them with the practical skills and agentic AI tools they need to innovate, stay competitive, embrace agentic AI in their daily work, ” said ANdy Lee, General Manager of Singapore and Thailand, Alibaba Cloud.
The programme is scheduled to begin in June 2026, with onboarding for participating enterprises, developers, and students expected to start shortly after. Organisers said workshops and guided implementation activities will focus on identifying high-impact use cases and deploying AI solutions across business functions.
