Singapore — SPTel has launched AI-Security, an artificial intelligence-powered tool designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore identify and mitigate cyber risks more efficiently and at lower cost.
AI-Security uses continuous monitoring to track the latest cybersecurity advisories and reported vulnerabilities from technology providers and security agencies. It cross-references this information against an SME’s digital infrastructure, issuing alerts when potential threats are detected.
Each alert is classified using the organisation’s risk matrix to ensure alignment with internal policies and to support effective resource allocation. The solution is intended to help SMEs enhance cyber resilience without requiring large in-house security teams or extensive specialist training.
“Cyber threats are evolving faster than traditional defences can keep up,” Heng Kwee Tong, head of engineering and corporate IT at SPTel, said.
“We are giving SMEs a powerful AI tool that moves cybersecurity beyond reactive protection to proactive intelligence, enabling faster, more effective responses to emerging cyber threats.”
He added that AI-Security enables SMEs to be protected against cyber threats with the same agility and confidence as larger enterprises at a much lower overhead cost.
The tool has been co-developed with technology provider 1CloudStar and is hosted on SPTel’s edge cloud infrastructure, which is distributed across secure hubs in Singapore. This approach ensures data sovereignty, physical security, and low-latency performance.
Mike Li, founder and CEO of 1CloudStar, shared that he believes cybersecurity tools should empower SMEs not overwhelm them.
“This solution brings practical, AI-powered threat insight to the market, built for local businesses, supported by local infrastructure, and focused on local impact,” Mike commented.
The launch comes as the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore’s Cyber Landscape 2023 report highlights that more than 80% of organisations experience at least one cybersecurity incident annually, often resulting in operational disruption, data loss, or reputational damage.
For SMEs, which typically operate with limited resources and expertise, the business impact of such incidents can be significant.
As part of its rollout, SPTel will provide 1,000 complimentary AI-Security trial accounts to Singapore SME members of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI).
