Singtel partners with DISG to accelerate group-wide AI transformation programme

Singapore – Singtel Group has entered into a strategic partnership with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) to accelerate a multi-year artificial intelligence (AI) transformation programme across its businesses, with a focus on strengthening AI-enabled operations, digital infrastructure, customer platforms and workforce capabilities.

Under the first phase of the partnership, Singtel Singapore will receive support from DISG to build foundational AI capabilities across the organisation. The initiative includes the development and recruitment of AI talent, the establishment of governance and technology frameworks, and the enhancement of advisory and implementation expertise to support large-scale AI deployment.

The collaboration aligns with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, which seeks to strengthen the country’s digital capabilities, expand local AI talent pipelines and develop globally competitive AI leaders.

Commenting on the partnership, Yuen Kuan Moon, Group Chief Executive Officer at Singtel, said: “Having been part of Singapore’s growth journey, we’re committed to supporting the country’s next lap by championing enterprise transformation with AI. This grant is a strong vote of confidence in the Group’s role in advancing Singapore’s AI ambitions and strengthens our position as a leading digital infrastructure and technology partner.”

He added, “As an adopter, provider and enabler of AI, Singtel is embedding intelligent technologies across our operations, delivering trusted enterprise-grade solutions that help customers move from pilot to scale, and providing secure, sovereign platforms and digital infrastructure to support adoption across industries. Ultimately, our goal is to create real impact not just for our business, but for Singapore, future-proofing our industries to be more competitive and resilient in the AI era.”

Meanwhile, Ng Tian Chong, Chief Executive Officer of Singtel Singapore, commented: “Singtel Singapore has embedded AI across every touchpoint in our business and are working on building more autonomous and resilient networks, improving customer experiences through agentic AI, and enabling enterprises to deploy AI securely through intelligent digital platforms.”

He added, “This partnership reinforces our commitment to not just transform our own operations, but to help enterprises and the industry unlock new value, improve productivity and innovate with confidence. The support from DISG will help us accelerate this transformation while strengthening Singapore’s broader digital ecosystem.”

Singtel said it is positioned within the AI ecosystem as an adopter, provider and enabler of the technology. Across the group, AI is being integrated into customer engagement, network operations, cybersecurity, enterprise platforms and digital infrastructure.

Within Singtel Singapore, AI is being applied to customer service operations through capabilities such as conversational AI, intelligent routing and real-time assistance. The company is also deploying AI across enterprise services, including its CUBΣ platform, which uses AI-enabled orchestration to help businesses manage connectivity, performance and security.

The telecommunications operator is also working towards more autonomous networks, where AI can help predict issues, optimise performance and improve resilience. According to the company, these capabilities are intended to support emerging technologies such as robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT) and autonomous systems, alongside growing demand for real-time digital experiences.

Beyond Singtel Singapore, the group’s technology services arm NCS develops enterprise AI platforms and applications across Asia-Pacific, while its digital infrastructure businesses, including Nxera and RE, provide AI-ready data centres, GPU infrastructure and cloud platforms designed to support secure AI adoption.

As part of the partnership, Singtel Singapore will focus on developing a roadmap to become an AI-native telecommunications company, deploying advanced agentic AI and machine learning capabilities across business units, cultivating AI talent, establishing governance frameworks, and driving organisation-wide AI adoption.

The company said the programme is expected to create new AI-related roles while supporting large-scale upskilling and reskilling efforts. Singtel has already trained approximately 13,000 employees in Singapore and plans to further develop 3,000 employees as AI practitioners and 300 employees as AI specialists.

Outside its own operations, Singtel said it continues to support enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses and communities through initiatives focused on AI, cybersecurity and digital literacy. Through programmes such as AI.dea and Cyber Elevate, the group said it has digitally enabled more than one million individuals and SMEs across its markets since 2015.
