Singapore – In an effort to enhance cyber resilience and recovery capabilities, TIM Engineering has recently unveiled the deployment of Rubrik in the data security framework of the Philippines’s Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC).

For this partnership, Rubrik’s official Philippine distributor, Exclusive Networks Philippines, will aid in strengthening the security posture and overall cyber resiliency of the bank in the increasingly complex cyber threat landscape.

It also plays a crucial role in the shift to advanced, integrated data security systems designed to address the cyber threats often faced by financial institutions.

Moreover, the collaboration reflects the bank’s dedication to move beyond compliance and adopt technology that ensures business continuity and mitigates sophisticated cyberattacks.

On the other hand, Rubrik’s unique architecture is designed with Zero Trust principles to protect data wherever it resides, whether on-premise, in the cloud, or in SaaS environments.

Through the integration, RCBC will use an integrated solution for sophisticated cyber threat detection, cyber resilience, and recovery without the need for additional third-party components.

Advanced machine learning capabilities will further empower the bank to continuously monitor cyber threats, conduct proactive threat hunting, and identify malware, reinforcing its overall security posture and resilience against cyberattacks.

Talking about the initiative, Nilo Zantua, senior vice president, CIO, and group head at RCBC, said, “Data is our lifeblood. Our commitment to deliver the best customer banking experiences relies on secure guardrails that protect our customers’ data and guarantee that we operate at our highest levels of resilience.”

He further added, “Rubrik’s advanced security architecture enables us to minimise business disruptions and mitigate potential cyber risks. This partnership is a critical step in modernising our data security infrastructure, empowering us to stay ahead of evolving cyber threats while delivering secure and seamless services to our wide customer base.”

Abhilash Purushothaman, general manager and vice president for Asia at Rubrik, also said, “In an industry that manages vast amounts of sensitive customer data and funds, legacy systems simply cannot accommodate the complexities of today’s cyber threats impacting the financial sector.”

“Rapid and clean recovery is essential for financial institutions to protect customer assets and maintain operational resilience in the face of cyber threats. RCBC is now equipped with a proactive cybersecurity approach complete with Rubrik’s data protection capabilities that will future proof their operations,” concluded Purushothaman.

Meanwhile, Martin Antunez, president at TIM Engineering, stated, “We are entrusted with the mandate of assisting RCBC in progressing its cyber resilience objectives. This collaboration demonstrates our dedication to delivering top-notch, reliable solutions that precisely meet the needs of our customers.”
