Singapore – Payoneer has launched Payoneer Checkout for eligible Singapore-registered businesses, enabling merchants to accept payments from international customers through their own online stores.
Powered by Stripe, the solution supports multiple payment methods, including cards and digital wallets. It also allows businesses to manage payment proceeds across markets through Payoneer’s global financial platform.
The launch comes as Singapore businesses expand their direct-to-consumer (DTC) operations alongside sales on online marketplaces such as Shopee, Lazada and Amazon. Operating their own online stores gives merchants greater control over customer experiences and direct relationships, but also requires them to manage different currencies, payment methods and customer preferences across markets.
Payment friction at checkout can result in abandoned purchases and lost customer acquisition spending, making payment accessibility an important consideration for businesses selling internationally.
Digital payments account for more than 60% of transactions in Southeast Asia, while three in five consumers in the region shop online, according to figures cited by Payoneer.
“Singapore businesses have become increasingly sophisticated in how they reach global customers, with many building a presence across both marketplaces and their own DTC channels,” said Nagesh Devata, SVP of APAC at Payoneer.
“As more businesses take control of their customer journeys, they need a payment partner they can trust to support that expansion — one that understands the complexity of operating across markets, currencies and payment behaviours. Payoneer Checkout is designed to be that partner, helping businesses convert global demand into revenue wherever their customers are,” Devata continued.
Payoneer cited South Korean skincare brand COSRX as an example of a business that has recorded a higher payment approval rate through Payoneer Checkout, helping customers complete purchases through its direct-to-consumer store.
Skincare brand Dr. Melaxin, which operates local entities in markets including the United States and Hong Kong, has also reported improved payment approval rates, supporting transaction conversion and simplifying cross-border payment operations.
The Singapore launch builds on Payoneer’s partnership with Stripe, whose financial infrastructure powers the Checkout service. The offering is intended to help eligible local businesses manage international payments as they expand their online sales beyond domestic markets.
With the service now available in Singapore, Payoneer is extending its payment capabilities to merchants seeking to establish direct customer relationships and serve international markets through their own digital storefronts.
