Singapore – Omio, the leading multimodal travel booking platform, has opened a new regional hub in Singapore and entered into a strategic partnership with EDBI, the investment arm of SG Growth Capital, as part of its ongoing expansion in Southeast Asia.
The Singapore-based technology hub, which became operational in July, will focus on applying artificial intelligence to improve global mobility solutions. It will also serve as a centre for developing next-generation travel technologies aimed at simplifying and enhancing the end-to-end travel experience for users worldwide.
The hub is led by Maneesh Mishra, head of AI at Omio, along with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and product specialists dedicated to advancing Omio’s technological capabilities and presence across Asia and beyond.
Naren Shaam, founder and CEO of Omio, mentioned that the company sees Singapore as the archetypal launchpad for bringing the organisation closer to unifying global transportation and delivering seamless travel experiences.
“The partnership with EDBI is built on a shared belief that AI and tech innovation will define the next era of global mobility,” Naren commented.
Omio operates one of the largest global platforms for multimodal transport, integrating travel options across trains, flights, buses, ferries, and airport transfers. The company has been using AI to refine its booking processes and traveller experience, and the new hub represents a further step in embedding AI across its operations.
The collaboration with EDBI is expected to support Omio’s growth in Southeast Asia by enabling new business opportunities, partnerships, and talent acquisition. Omio’s network in the region already includes thousands of transport operators across six countries — Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia — with ferries recently added and further transport modes planned.
“We are delighted to partner with Omio as it establishes its APAC Regional Headquarters and Global AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore,” Charmaine Kng, partner in investments at EDBI, stated.
“Our investment supports this next phase of growth and underscores Singapore’s position as a trusted hub for digital innovation and AI development.”
This development marks a key milestone in Omio’s global growth strategy. The company currently connects transport providers across 46 countries on four continents and continues to expand, recently entering the Brazilian market. Omio facilitates over 80,000 bookings daily and supports more than one billion users annually through its digital travel platform.
