Singapore – Intel, a software development firm, has recently announced its latest partnership with IT services and consulting company IBM to enable cost-effective scaling of enterprise AI.
This initiative further extends to ensuring security and resiliency through their new Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators as a service on IBM Cloud, which is set to be available in early 2025.
As part of the collaboration, it seeks to address the top priorities for enterprises, which require significant compute power for generative AI. This can be done by improving availability, performance, cost efficiency, energy efficiency, and security.
Furthermore, the alliance intends to reduce the total cost of ownership for utilising and scaling AI while boosting performance.
It is thus designed to support Gaudi 3 within IBM’s watsonx AI and data platform, enabling watsonx clients to access additional AI infrastructure resources, scale their AI workloads across hybrid cloud environments, and refine the cost and performance of model inferencing.
This integration of Gaudi 3 with 5th Gen Xeon also provides solutions for enterprise AI workloads in both cloud and data centres, allowing customers visibility and control over their software stack as well as streamlining workload and application management.
Apart from these capabilities, the Gaudi 3 AI service aims to assist clients across diverse industries by using IBM Cloud’s security and compliance capabilities. This approach provides clients the ability to adjust computing resources as needed, leading to cost savings and operational efficiency.
Talking about the initiative, Justin Hotard, executive vice president and general manager of the Data Centre and AI Group at Intel, said, “Unlocking the full potential of AI requires an open and collaborative ecosystem that provides customers with choice and accessible solutions.”
He further noted, “By integrating Gaudi 3 AI accelerators and Xeon CPUs with IBM Cloud, we are creating new AI capabilities and meeting the demand for affordable, secure, and innovative AI computing solutions.”
Alan Peacock, general manager at IBM Cloud, also commented, “Leveraging Intel’s Gaudi 3 accelerators on IBM Cloud will provide our clients access to a flexible enterprise AI solution that aims to optimise cost performance.”
“We are unlocking potential new AI business opportunities, designed for clients to more cost-effectively test, innovate, and deploy AI inferencing solutions,” added Peacock.
