Meta names Sook Ping Lau as new country director for Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Meta has appointed Sook Ping Lau as country director for Malaysia, placing her in charge of the company’s operations and market strategy in the nationwide. 

In her new position, Sook Ping will oversee Meta’s local team and focus on strengthening relationships with advertisers, agencies and the creator community. She will also help expand the use of Meta’s advertising, digital commerce and marketing technologies among Malaysian organisations, as well as supporting the development of the wider digital ecosystem.

Sook Ping joins from L’Oréal, where she spent more than ten years and most recently served as chief digital and marketing officer overseeing Malaysia and Singapore.

“Malaysia presents incredible opportunities, and I’m thrilled to lead Meta’s efforts here,” Sook Ping commented.  

She added, “Together with our team, I’m committed to driving growth for businesses, fostering strong partnerships, and contributing positively to local communities.” 

Sook Ping brings extensive experience in marketing, e-commerce and digital transformation. Prior to her role at L’Oréal, she held senior roles at Henkel and Procter & Gamble, working across brand management and commercial leadership functions. 

She is a graduate of the London School of Economics, where she obtained First Class Honours in Mathematics and Economics, and is recognised for applying data, attaching importance to analytical decision-making and talent development.

“Her deep expertise in digital transformation, e-commerce, and the creator economy will be invaluable as we continue to grow in Malaysia,” Sandhya Devanathan, vice president of Southeast Asia and India at Meta, shared. 

“Her understanding of brands, consumers, and the evolving digital landscape—combined with her commitment to developing talent—will be instrumental as we continue to empower Malaysian businesses, partners, and communities.” 

The appointment reflects Meta’s continued investment in Malaysia and its focus on supporting businesses, partners and online communities as the country’s digital economy continues to develop.
