Macquarie Cloud Services signs three-year Microsoft Azure optimisation agreement

Australia – Macquarie Cloud Services has signed a three-year Microsoft Datacentre Optimisation (DCO) agreement aimed at expanding its Microsoft Azure consumption and supporting Australian organisations with cloud migration and modernisation.

The agreement, announced on 12 August 2026, is the third DCO agreement signed by Macquarie Cloud Services, which is part of Macquarie Technology Group.

Under the agreement, Microsoft is forecasting that Macquarie Cloud Services’ Azure consumption spend could reach up to $278 million over the next three years, based on the company’s roadmap and performance to date.

Microsoft’s DCO programme is designed to help partners expand their Azure practices and support customers undertaking hybrid cloud transformations. Macquarie Cloud Services said the agreement will support organisations in migrating and modernising infrastructure, improving efficiency and developing new capabilities using Azure.

The company described the agreement as one of the largest DCO agreements signed in the region and said it reflects its position as Microsoft’s leading Australian cloud service provider in driving customer workload migration through the DCO programme.

“Macquarie Cloud Services continues to demonstrate strong leadership in helping Australian organisations modernise with Microsoft Azure,” said Vincent Texcier, Global Datacentre Optimisation (DCO) Centre of Excellence, Microsoft. “Through this agreement, Macquarie Cloud Services can continue helping customers migrate and modernise infrastructure, strengthen their cloud foundations, and prepare for future data and AI opportunities.”

Macquarie Cloud Services’ Azure expansion comes amid growing demand for cloud infrastructure in Australia, driven by areas including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, systems modernisation and regulatory requirements such as APRA CPS 230 and CPS 234, the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and the Essential Eight framework.

The company said it has maintained Expert MSP status with Microsoft for six years. It also said it has delivered average cloud cost savings of 26% and reduced operational risk for thousands of Australian organisations.

Macquarie Cloud Services said its managed services model does not charge separately for professional services or consulting, with migration and transformation costs included in its managed services fee.

“By combining our capabilities with the DCO framework, we are enabling customers to move to Azure at scale, while building a foundation for data, AI, and next-generation applications that will ultimately drive the Australian economy,” said z.

“Increasingly, our growth is being driven by customers expanding into new workloads and more sophisticated capabilities as their cloud maturity develops, as well as organisations moving to Azure for the first time. This agreement reflects continued confidence in our Azure capability, experience, and customer outcomes. We look forward to continuing to work closely with Microsoft as it continues its own significant investment into Australia.”
