Singapore — DHL Express has appointed Karen Tan as chief information officer (CIO) for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. She succeeds Jimmy Yeoh, who will retire at the end of 2025 after more than three decades with the company.
As CIO for APAC, Karen will oversee regional IT infrastructure, digital acceleration, and cybersecurity strategies across DHL Express operations, spanning more than 40 countries and territories. Her responsibilities include supporting cross-functional collaboration and enhancing operational efficiency to reinforce the company’s service delivery across the region.
“As digital ecosystems grow more complex, the challenges around cybersecurity and data protection continue to be highly critical,” Karen explained.
“While we manage these risks with care and precision, it is essential that we continue to uphold the standards and quality of our employee and customer experience. I am honoured to take on this role and work closely with a passionate team that is committed to driving innovation and operational excellence every day.”
In her previous role as CIO for DHL Express Singapore, Karen led the development of a nationwide digitalisation framework, advanced data protection and information security practices, and introduced measures that strengthened employee engagement within the IT function.
She also served as data protection officer (DPO) champion, coordinating with global DPO and legal teams to ensure effective data management processes. In addition, she spearheaded diversity and inclusion initiatives, including campaigns marking International Women’s Day, International Men’s Day, and Generations Day.
Ken Lee, CEO for Asia-Pacific at DHL Express stated that the company’s 2030 strategy firmly emphasises the acceleration of digital innovation to enhance customer experience.
“A robust IT strategy will empower us to become more agile, reliable and resilient,” Ken said.
“Karent’s proven track record in driving digital acceleration, data protection, and cross-functional collaboration makes her the ideal leader to take our Asia Pacific IT function to the next level.”
