Cohesity names Greg Statton as chief technology officer for Asia Pacific and Japan operations

Singapore — Cohesity has appointed Greg Statton as chief technology officer (CTO) for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), a newly created role designed to advance the company’s regional technology strategy and innovation efforts.

In his new role, Greg will oversee technology strategy and customer-focused innovation initiatives across APJ while continuing his global responsibilities in leading the development of Cohesity’s AI solution, Gaia. He will report to Sunil Moolchandani, chief strategy officer at Cohesity.

“Greg brings a rare combination of technical depth, regional insight, and strategic vision that will be critical as we scale our presence across APJ,” Sunil commented.

“His leadership will play a pivotal role in helping customers adopt our AI-powered data security solutions and strengthen their cyber resilience.”

The appointment follows the integration of Veritas’ enterprise data protection business and highlights APJ, particularly Japan, as a key growth region for the company in the upcoming financial year.

Greg’s role reflects Cohesity’s increased investment in APJ as demand rises for integrated, AI-powered data protection and security solutions that improve business resilience.

The Field CTO role for the region is intended to bring closer alignment between product development and customer requirements, supporting deeper engagement with enterprise and government organisations.

“I am excited to directly support the Cohesity APJ team at such a pivotal time and look forward to driving the next wave of growth and innovation in the region—particularly Japan—alongside our talented teams,” Greg stated.

He added that the APJ region includes a wide variety of organisations that need technology partners who understand the unique challenges of cyber threats and can deliver tailored, innovative solutions.

Greg has been with Cohesity for more than a decade, holding senior leadership roles in sales engineering, technical innovation, and AI solutions. Prior to joining Cohesity, he worked with Citrix, Nutanix, and Google in various technical and product development roles, with a career spanning cloud, security, and artificial intelligence technologies.
