Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Tencent has opened a new office in central Kuala Lumpur as part of its ongoing expansion in Malaysia, reinforcing the country’s position as one of the company’s main international hubs.
The new space is intended to support Tencent’s long-term plans to deepen its role in Malaysia’s technology landscape while drawing on the country’s talent base, infrastructure, and regional connectivity.
Additionally, it will bring together teams responsible for global technology development, digital innovation, and CX. This consolidation is intended to strengthen Tencent’s international capabilities while contributing to Malaysia’s broader technology value chain.
“Malaysia’s strong digital infrastructure, supportive policies, and highly skilled talent make it an ideal base for digital innovation,” Judy Wong, country manager of Tencent Malaysia, commented.
She added, “This new office marks the beginning of an exciting next chapter, where we will deepen our cloud and AI innovation partnerships, support Malaysia’s digital ambitions, cross-border collaboration, and continue nurturing local creative and technology talent.”
Since 2013, Tencent has been active in Malaysia, contributing to the growth of the local digital economy across entertainment, financial technology, cloud services, and AI. Its Malaysian workforce doubled in 2025, and the company expects strong double-digit growth by the end of 2026. The expanded office will also support Tencent’s wider global operations.
Tencent also formalised new partnerships at the launch of its new offices, including an agreement with Opensys Technologies and Boost to deploy PalmAI. The collaboration aims to support Malaysia’s ambitions to trial emerging digital technologies at scale. Tencent is also widening its activities across several sectors, including tourism, gaming, esports, and education, aligning with national priorities to advance the digital economy.
“Tencent’s expansion in Malaysia demonstrates the growth of our digital economy and the ability of the local workforce to meet the demands of leading internet companies in today’s deeply interconnected global economy,” YB Gobind Singh Deo, the minister of digital of Malaysia, stated.
“We welcome Tencent’s continued commitment and investment in Malaysia as a strategic base for talent development and global collaboration.”
As Tencent continues to expand globally, Malaysia’s established digital ecosystem, skilled workforce, and supportive policy environment position the country as an important base for the company’s future innovation and international collaboration.
