Singapore – 53.5% of Singaporeans fear artificial intelligence might be replacing jobs, noting Gen Z to have the highest levels of anxiety in terms of job security. This is according to the latest report from human resources provider Reeracoen in partnership with Rakuten Insight Global.

In the study, respondents also expressed mixed sentiments about corporate support for AI integration, with only 23.1% of respondents feeling their companies were very supportive of AI changes. This figure showed a critical need to enhance corporate strategies and foster employee readiness.

Interestingly, about 62.4% are actively taking steps to prepare for an AI-driven future, primarily by engaging in data analysis and AI courses. This move reflects the ongoing government initiatives aimed at developing an AI-ready workforce.

Kenji Naito, Group CEO at Reeracoen Group, said, “As AI reshapes the workforce, our role is to guide companies and job seekers to navigate these changes successfully. This report provides invaluable insights, enabling us to align our strategies with Singapore’s Smart Nation 2.0 vision and connect businesses with AI-ready talent.”

“Our findings show that while AI adoption is accelerating, companies must take proactive steps to support their employees’ upskilling. By connecting businesses with high-calibre candidates, we will continue contributing to Singapore’s vision of becoming a global AI hub,” added Naito.

The survey, conducted across 400 professionals across 50 industries, looks closely into the generational perspectives on AI in professional settings. It also complements the country’s recent announcement of a SG$1b investment plan under the Smart Nation 2.0 initiative, aimed at strengthening the nation’s AI capabilities and promoting responsible adoption.
