Singapore – Nearly half of Singaporean employers have yet to consider artificial intelligence in their recruitment processes, according to research from recruitment and workforce solutions company Hays.

In this report, around 45.3% of the respondents revealed their lack of intention to employ AI in terms of their hiring procedures in the coming year.

To note, a significant 20.7% of these respondents have only incorporated this technology in their hiring process, indicating its implementation is still in its early phases. Approximately 23.0%, on the other hand, expressed their intention to explore its potential within the next year.

Among those employing AI in recruitment, the report also found that the majority of them use the technology primarily for resume screening and shortlisting (36.8%). This was followed by predictive analysis for candidate suitability at 32.6% and interview scheduling and coordination at 26.3%.

Meanwhile, over half (59.7%) of those hesitant to adopt AI in their hiring processes conveyed their concerns about biassed AI-powered resume screening, emphasising the need to address these issues before their widespread adoption.

Lastly, the findings further revealed that around 33.0% of employers utilising AI in recruitment are not actively assessing biases in AI recruitment tools. On the flip side, roughly 29.7% of polled human resources personnel have received policies regarding the use of AI tools from their managers or organisations.
