Singapore – Monee has partnered with Great Eastern to offer travel and motor insurance products through the Shopee marketplace, giving Singapore users access to additional insurance options through the digital platform.

The partnership covers travel insurance plans and motor insurance products, including a range of coverage options for electric vehicles (EVs).

Travel insurance coverage

The new travel insurance plans provide coverage for common travel-related events, including trip cancellations, flight delays, lost baggage and medical incidents related to selected pre-existing conditions, subject to policy terms.

Selected plans also cover adventure activities such as snowboarding and scuba diving.

From 1 to 31 October, Monee is offering discounts of up to 60% on selected Great Eastern travel insurance plans, alongside additional stackable vouchers.

Motor and EV insurance

The partnership also makes Great Eastern motor insurance products available through Shopee, covering vehicle owners and their everyday mobility needs.

Great Eastern’s motor and EV insurance plans include dedicated claims processing channels and flexible repair options, including the choice of workshop in the event of an accident.

Personal accident coverage of up to S$120,000 is available for the insured, while authorised drivers and passengers can receive up to S$50,000 in coverage, including medical expense reimbursement.

Optional add-on coverage can also provide a daily transport allowance while a vehicle is being repaired.

Customers with the Drive and Save Plus plan can receive an excess waiver of up to S$500 for their first car repair at a Great Eastern-authorised workshop.

For EV owners, additional coverage includes up to S$5,000 for accidental damage to private charging stations, up to S$20,000 for home contents damage caused by fire during charging, and up to S$1,000 in outpatient medical expenses arising from electric shock while charging.

To mark the launch, Monee is offering car owners up to S$468 in voucher savings, as well as a S$50 Shopee voucher with no minimum spend, on Great Eastern motor insurance plans available through the marketplace.

“Travel and motor insurance are among the most sought-after forms of protection for Singaporeans, and our goal at Monee is to make it affordable, accessible and personalised through digital channels so users can get covered with ease, anytime and anywhere,” said Yang Yang, Head of Insurance at Monee.

“Through this partnership with Great Eastern, we are bringing trusted, established protection directly to users as part of their everyday digital experience on Shopee,” Yang continued.

“Making protection more accessible starts with being present wherever customers choose to engage,” said Greg Hingston, Group CEO at Great Eastern.

“Through our partnership with Monee, we are bringing our general insurance solutions to Shopee’s marketplace, making it easier and more convenient for customers to obtain coverage for their travel and mobility needs. This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to broadening access to protection and enhancing the insurance experience through digital channels,” Hingston continued.
