Hong Kong – AsiaPay has launched a pilot of Voice Pay, an AI-powered voice payment feature that allows shoppers to complete purchases by speaking instructions into their mobile device. The digital payment provider says the tool lets customers confirm transactions using their preferred payment method, from digital wallets to cards, without manually entering details at checkout.
According to AsiaPay, the voice instruction is linked to the customer’s chosen payment method behind the scenes, while its payment engine simultaneously manages authentication, routing, fraud protection and processing. The company positions the feature as a way to deliver secure, hands-free checkout for everyday commerce.
The launch arrives as the voice payments market is projected to nearly double, growing from $10.9 billion in 2025 to $22.7 billion by 2030. AsiaPay cites data showing that 81% of consumers already use voice technology on a weekly basis, while early adopters of AI voice agents are reportedly recovering 35% of abandoned shopping carts.
As a result, payment providers across the industry are moving away from static rule-based systems towards adaptive, AI-driven infrastructure. In line with this shift, AsiaPay says it is embedding further intelligence into its fraud scoring and transaction routing capabilities.
“The way consumers shop is changing – and so is the way payments are processed behind the scenes,” said Joseph Chan, CEO of AsiaPay.
“With Voice Pay, we are giving merchants a voice front-end to an AI-powered payment interface that reduces friction for customers and improves economics for businesses. In an industry where payment networks and PSPs are racing to embed AI into their infrastructure and service, Voice Pay is AsiaPay’s answer paving the way for agentic commerce,” Chan continued.
For existing AsiaPay merchants, the feature can reportedly be activated instantly through what the company calls Zero-Code Enablement, requiring no development work or system changes. New merchants, meanwhile, can integrate Voice Pay through an API-based gateway designed for deployment across major eCommerce platforms.
The feature supports multi-wallet compatibility, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, WeChat Pay, Alipay, and Octopus, among others used across Asia. AsiaPay adds that the system is underpinned by built-in biometric authentication and tokenised security measures.
