Manila, Philippines – Pine Labs, a global financial technology company, has entered the Philippine market through a partnership with GCash for Business, which will serve as its first payments partner in the country.
Under the arrangement, Pine Labs will support merchant acquisition efforts for GCash for Business by providing POS software, platform integrations and additional merchant services. The collaboration is intended to strengthen digital payment acceptance for businesses, particularly MSMEs in the Philippines.
The integration will add instalment payment plans, rewards programmes, loyalty tools and cashback functions to GCash’s existing merchant acquiring services. It will also enable businesses to accept a wider range of payment methods, including card transactions and QR-based payments.
“Through this collaboration with GCash, we are delivering high-performance software integrations, smarter payment flows, and powerful value-added services to help merchants in the Philippines scale their businesses,” Dheeraj Chowdhry, Chief Business Officer of Southeast Asia at Pine Labs, commented.
“Our rapid deployment capabilities will improve merchant onboarding, engagement, and retention in the region.”
GCash for Business currently offers several merchant tools designed to simplify transactions, including mobile POS services that allow smartphones to function as payment terminals, as well as audio confirmation systems for completed payments. It has also introduced newer devices aimed at smaller businesses seeking more advanced payment capabilities.
Through Pine Labs’ POS technology, merchants using the GCash platform are expected to gain broader access to both card and QR payment acceptance. This partnership is intended to improve onboarding processes, merchant engagement and long-term retention.
“GCash helps Filipino entrepreneurs grow by giving them simple, reliable ways to accept payments and manage their daily operations,” Paul Albano, General Manager and Head of GCash for Business, stated.
“With our collaboration with Pine Labs, merchants can now offer more payment choices and added perks, making it easier for their businesses to expand and serve more customers.”
The agreement also reflects a shared focus on building a payments ecosystem that is compliant with regulations, scalable and secure, while supporting wider adoption of digital payments among merchants.
