Manila, Philippines – Sumsub, an international provider of identity verification and fraud prevention services, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Go Digital Philippines to support the development of a secure and inclusive digital economy in the Philippines and the wider ASEAN region.
The initiative is positioned in the context of the country’s upcoming ASEAN chairmanship in 2026 and reflects a broader effort to reinforce digital trust, improve service reliability and guide the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence technologies.
The agreement outlines a coordinated approach that aligns private sector capabilities with national policy objectives. It introduces a structured programme of engagement with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and other relevant institutions, with a focus on strengthening digital identity frameworks, enhancing safeguards for artificial intelligence applications and raising trust standards across digital platforms.
The collaboration is intended to complement ongoing government-led initiatives aimed at building a more secure and inclusive digital environment.
“We believe trust is the core layer of the digital economy, and today, that trust depends on how AI is governed. By expanding our presence in the Philippines and working closely with local businesses, regulators, governments, and industry associations, we are adapting our global expertise to local realities,” Andrew Sever, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Sumsub, commented.
“Through our partnership with Go Digital Philippines, we are aligning our AI-driven solutions with a national vision to ensure digital services are safe, inclusive, and friction-free, helping the Philippines set the ASEAN benchmark for a secure digital future.”
At a regional level, the two organisations are expected to contribute to the ASEAN AI workstream under the ASEAN Business Advisory Council. Their participation will centre on advancing interoperability in cross-border payments and promoting safer digital financial systems for MSMEs as well as individual users.
The partnership will also involve sharing technical and regulatory insights related to fraud prevention, data exchange, artificial intelligence deployment and compliance frameworks, with the objective of supporting a consistent and trust-oriented digital ecosystem across ASEAN markets.
“This collaboration aligns with our vision of a fully inclusive and digitally empowered Philippines by 2035,” Atty. Mark Gorriceta, Chairman of Go Digital Philippines, stated.
“Partnering with a global leader such as Sumsub allows us to foster responsible technology adoption and equip Philippine businesses with governance frameworks and tools needed to thrive in a secure digital landscape.”
In parallel with these initiatives, Sumsub is expanding its operational footprint in the Philippines through a programme of local investment and institutional collaboration. This includes strengthening its in-country presence to respond more effectively to regulatory developments, emerging financial crime risks and the requirements of financial institutions and digital service providers.
The company is also working with local technology partners, including Nexus Technologies, to develop solutions tailored to domestic market conditions and to contribute to broader improvements in digital trust standards.
