Mastercard names Minsook Cho as country manager for Singapore

Singapore – Mastercard has appointed Minsook Cho as its country manager for Singapore, where she will be responsible for overseeing the company’s overall strategy and operations in the market. She will also work with regional and international clients based in Singapore to advance cross-border and strategic programmes.

In her new position, Minsook will guide Mastercard’s engagement with Singapore’s digital payments agenda, collaborating with stakeholders across the public and private sectors to support the development of secure, efficient and accessible payment services for individuals and enterprises.

Minsook has more than 20 years of experience spanning payments, financial technology, data analytics and advisory services. She joined Mastercard in 2013 and most recently served as SVP for advisors client services in Asia Pacific. In that role, she directed consulting, analytics, experimentation and managed services across key markets including Japan, Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.

“I am honoured to lead Mastercard’s business in Singapore, a market I have been deeply connected with for many years,” Minsook commented.

“Having spent over a decade driving data-driven strategies and advisory services across Asia Pacific, I look forward to leveraging this experience to deliver innovative, insight-led solutions that empower Singaporeans and accelerate the country’s digital innovation.”

The appointment comes as Singapore expands its position in digital finance under initiatives led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, including developments in tokenisation, artificial intelligence and regulatory measures relating to stablecoins.

Mastercard mentioned that Minsook’s experience in analytics and advisory services would align with these efforts to modernise the country’s payments landscape and improve efficiency and access.

“Minsook’s experience in data and services, including enhancing business performance,  elevating consumer experiences and enabling innovation, together with her deep understanding of the market, positions her to strengthen intelligence, security and interoperability across Singapore’s payments ecosystem,” Safdar Khan, division president of Southeast Asia at Mastercard, shared.

“We are confident she will lead the next chapter of our journey in this mature and  forward-looking market.”

Before joining Mastercard, Cho held senior roles at foodpanda, Lazada and Boston Consulting Group.
